Seoul Forest, a Rest Area in the City with Forests and Parks

A theme park in Seoul.  It is said to have been modeled after New York's Central Park and London's Hyde Park as green areas in the city center. The Seoul Metropolitan Government created five theme parks and other facilities and opened in June 2005.

What is Seoul Forest?

Seoul Forest opened on June 18, 2005, and has changed in various forms over time, and is now a world-class ecological park with 3,000 acres. It has become a resting place for citizens with the freshness and coziness of trees and grasses full of concrete frameworks without removing all of its former appearance.

It is a sacred place for a well-being space consisting of five themes: Culture and Arts Park, Nature Experience Learning Center, Hangang Waterfront Park, Wetland Ecological Park, and Ecological Forest.

Seoul Forest is a very crowded place

It has a large lawn and children's play facilities, so there are many family visitors, and the trails are well made, so it is a place where many couples visit. There are many cyclists, and sometimes there are people wearing tights and riding in a group. On a fine day, you can see a cosplay shoot almost every weekend. You can often see cosplay filming in the back of the waterfront lounge as well as the wetland ecological garden.

There are quite a few visitors in spring and autumn. In particular, if the weather is good on Friday or weekends, the traffic around Seoul Forest is paralyzed, and there are so many cars parked by visitors. In case of severe traffic paralysis, the police are out, and then... Seoul Forest has a small parking lot, so it is recommended to use public transportation if possible. As such, there are so many people regardless of the place on weekends, so if you want a quiet date and visit Seoul Forest, I recommend another place.

Compared to the area, the site is not efficient because it has been cut into various roads such as Ttukseom-ro and Gosan-ro. Although several passages have been made under Seongsu Bridge or Gangbyeonbuk-ro, on Gangbyeonbuk-ro, or on Ttukseom Island, there are many inconveniences in moving between various regions.

A / 1 : Seoul Forest Plaza

Section A, where Seoul Forest Plaza is located in the center of Seoul Forest, has a family garden, self-sufficiency group, visitor center, Seoul Forest Story, outdoor stage, waterfront lounge (cabinet, community center), and an empty spot in the forest. There are also forest playgrounds, skate parks, and water playgrounds, so you can enjoy activities.

B / 2 : Ecological Forest

A total of 114 animals of 8 species live in Area B where you can meet wild animals. If you climb a walking bridge, you can observe wild animals including deer that you couldn't meet in your daily life.

It is a place where the Han River water flowed in the past, and it was reproduced as a natural ecological forest connecting the Han River and Jungnangcheon Stream. It is used as a habitat for wild animals, and a total of 114 animals of 8 species, including deer, live there. A pedestrian bridge is installed so that wild animals can be observed.

C / 3 : Nature Experience Learning Center

It is composed of butterfly gardens, insect botanical gardens, gallery gardens, honeybee gardens, experience yards, and citizen forests.

Area C is largely divided into areas where you can meet insects and rest areas. There are butterfly gardens, insect botanical gardens, gallery gardens, and honeybee gardens. In order to protect butterflies in the cold winter, they are taking care of them on the second floor of the insect botanical garden.

Insect Botanical Garden is operated as a botanical garden on the first floor and a butterfly experience center on the second floor based on winter, and small animals such as turtles and frogs live together. For some reason, there are five or six fishing ports with carp, uparupa, and sturgeon in some areas on the first floor, and specimens such as butterflies are also displayed in the corner. You can also see insects such as stag beetles and beetles. Overall, it is a small-sized botanical garden.

D / 4 : Wetland Ecological Garden

Using the existing natural environment of the reservoir, a wetland ecological management center, an environmental playground, an outdoor nature classroom, a bird watching table, a wetland herb garden, and a water purification botanical garden were created. Since the location is in a corner, people don't go there often.

E / 5 : Han River Park

Located on the southwest side of the park, it provides natural shores, waterfront parks, docks, and rest areas at the confluence of the Han River and Jungnangcheon Stream. You can go through the pedestrian observation bridge, and the sunset from here is really nice.
