A tree forest used in Korea's National Treasure No. 1, is destroyed by a large forest fire

It is said that the flames have continued, and now the fire has spread to the forest of trees used in the fire recovery of National Treasure No. 1 Sungnyemun Gate.

National Treasure No. 1 Sungnyemun Gate was also burned down in a fire around February 2008, and almost all of it was destroyed. I hope the Geumgang Pine Forest is safe.

What is Geumgangsong Pine Tree? It was named after Mount Kumgang

Geumgangsong is considered the best among domestic pine trees because of its excellent material. Geumgang pine trees grow naturally throughout Uljin, but Sogwang-ri is widely known as the largest Geumgang pine colony in Korea. 

There are also places called Chunyangmok, Hwangjangmok, and Anmoksong. Geumgangsong, which has grown for more than 200 years, is used to restore various cultural properties because it is straight, has few cracks, and is beautiful. When Sungnyemun (Namdaemun) was burned in 2008, the pine tree used for restoration was Geumgangsong in Sogwang-ri. As such, it is evaluated that if Geumgangsong, a colony of Sogwang-ri, rides, its value will lose so much value that it is difficult to convert into money.

The original form of Geumgangsong Forest is well preserved, so it has high ecological value and beautiful scenery. More than 10 million pine trees grow naturally, including two protected trees over 500 years old and beautiful pine trees that stretch straight at 350 years old. 

Samsung shows a sense of responsibility for ESG as a big donation!

Samsung Group donated 3 billion won to help residents affected by forest fires in Uljin-gun and Samcheok-si which began on the 4th. Earlier in 2020, Samsung donated 2.5 million won in donations and relief kits to restore areas affected by torrential rains, and 30 billion won in relief supplies and donations as part of social efforts to overcome COVID-19 in the same year. In addition, when typhoon Mitak and Gangwon-do forest fires were damaged in 2019, they donated 2 billion won and volunteered to support restoration, respectively.
