Competition among global companies to enhance AI competitiveness is hot. In particular, platform companies with a lot of data continue to raise new AI models as if they were developing war weapons. 

Meta, DeepMind, Amazon Reveals New AI Model

The companies that introduced the new AI model this time are Meta, DeepMind, Amazon, etc. Meta unveiled the ultra-large AI 'OPT-175B', comparable to GPT-3, developed by OpenAI. DeepMind, a subsidiary of Google, says it has developed a visual language model that can explain photos and answer questions with only a small amount of data. Amazon has unveiled technologies that can create more realistic and diverse images.

Meta says it has launched a large-scale language model, OPT (Open Pretrained Transformer). It is a language model with 175 billion parameters that provide GPT-3 level of language accuracy. There is also a difference from GPT-3. OpenAI offered GPT-3 as a paid service and did not share the model itself or code, but Meta even released OPT-175B's pre-trained model, basic code and development logbooks.

Meta argued that academic researchers, civil society, policymakers, and industry workers should work together to create a "responsible AI", especially to develop clear guidelines for large, responsible language models. DeepMind Reveals Visual Language Models for Learning with Small Data

DeepMind, a subsidiary of Google, has unveiled a visual language model called Flamingo, which allows you to learn from a few photos and text and explain photos or answer questions.

Based on 'few-shot learning', which learns with a small amount of data for multi-modal tasks, it is an AI model that can receive input consisting of images, videos, and text and output text related to a given input. With just a few specific examples, you can solve a variety of problems without additional fine-tuning.

Naver and Kakao competitively introduced AI performance

AI performance is not unique to global platform companies. South Korean platform giants Naver and Kakao also announced AI-related achievements this year. Naver announced that it is upgrading its existing integrated search service to a "customized" search service by opening "Naver Search Colloquium 2022." Kakao Enterprise announced that it held 'LasSON 2022' and officially launched an AI logistics ecosystem platform.

Naver's AI-based recommendation and search technology aims to provide an environment where users can experience AI in their daily lives. Choi Jae-ho, head of Naver Search CIC, said, "As part of upgrading AI this year, the company is expanding Naver's AI technology to the entire search service," adding, "We will provide a search environment where users can experience AI in their daily lives."

Kakao... AI logistics ecosystem platform "Kakao i LaaS" is launched

Kakao said it has officially launched an AI-based logistics platform. This is the AI logistics ecosystem platform 'Kakao I LaaS (Logistics as a Service). 

It is a platform that connects the shipper 'freight company' and its member company 'logistics center' based on AI. Cargo companies can easily and conveniently use the optimal logistics center through the service, reducing logistics costs, and the logistics center can generate new profits by efficiently operating the center space that was previously left empty.
